Understanding the PDF Page Tree & Object Catalog
1.PDF Object Structure & Page Trees
At the binary level, a PDF document consists of a Header, Body, Cross-Reference Table, and Trailer. The root of the document (/Catalog) references a hierarchical tree of page objects (/Pages).
When organizing PDF documents, our engine restructures the Kids array within page nodes. Rather than slow raster rendering, it updates indirect object references directly, resulting in instantaneous merging, splitting, and reordering.
